Office Professional (Office 365)

This article shows how to download, activate and change the password of the Office 365 subscription for students.

1. Activate Microsoft account

First you need to activate your Microsoft Office account through the Studisoft webpage.
Select 'Technische Universität München' in the dropdown menu and click on 'Login'.
You will be redirected to the Mytum login webpage. Enter your LRZ credentials + password to log in.

All available software will be listed on the landing page. Select Office 365 and click on 'kostenfrei bestellen'.

In the next step you have to accept the license agreement and the data security guideline and in the end you have to submit the order by clicking on 'Bestellen'.

It can take up to 30 minutes until your Mircosoft account is activated. Please wait for the required time until you log in for the first time.

IMPORTANT: For logging in the first time your password will be the order number (Auftragsnummer) from the Studisoft webpage.

2. Office 365 Login & Download Office 365

After your Microsoft account is activated you can log in the Microsoft Office 365 portal.

Your username is 'Your_LRZ-credentials@forstudents.onmicrosoft.com' and your password for your first login will be your order number (Auftragsnummer) from the Studisoft webpage.
You will be asked to change your password after logging in for the first time.

The first field shows your login credentials, the second field is for the current password (order number / 'Auftragsnummer' from the Studisoft portal) and the last two fields are for your new password. Click on 'Update password and sign in' after filling out all fields.

After successfully logging in you have to click on 'Office 365 Apps' to download the installer file for MS Office 365.
IMPORTANT: 'Office 365 apps' will only appear if you log in from a Windows or Mac OS computer.

3. Activate Office 365

3.1. Activate Office 365 on Mac OS

After launching an Office program on Mac OS you will be asked to log in to activate your MS Office 365.
Just enter once again 'Your_LRZ-credentials@forstudents.onmicrosoft.com' and your newly created password.

After a successful activation you can start using your MS Office programs.

4. Change Microsoft Office 365 password

To reset your Microsoft portal password you have to click on 'Auftragsverfolgung' under Mein Profil at the top of the bar in the Studisoft portal.



To reset your password you have to click on 'Passwort zurücksetzen'. You will receive a notification that an E-mail was sent with all necessary information.



It says that your password was now resetted to the order number (Auftragsnummer) from the Studisoft portal.



Now you can log in to the Microsoft Office 365 portal. After clicking on 'Download /Info externes Portal' you will be redirected to the required webpage.
Enter 'Your_LRZ-credentials@forstudents.onmicrosoft.com' and the order number (Auftragsnummer) from the Studisoft portal. After that you have to enter a new password.

IMPORTANT: You won't receive OneDrive and OneNote from the university license. OneNote for Windows is now free of charge and has to be downloaded separately.
